About This Air Filter Safety Element
The safety element (inner cartridge) sits inside the main air filter and acts as a backstop: if the primary element is damaged, mis-seated or breached during servicing, the safety cartridge still blocks dust from reaching the airend. It is standard practice in high-dust sites to replace the safety element every second or third main-element change rather than on its own schedule.
